A unique opportunity in Belgium: master watchmaker Daniel Van Riet invites you to get behind the workbench!

Whether you’re a collector or a lover of fine mechanical watchmaking, come and discover and appreciate the world’s most sophisticated movements and the expertise of some of the most prestigious manufactures that have written some of the finest pages in watchmaking history.

From PATEK PHILIPPE to F.P. JOURNE, via AUDEMARS PIGUET, VACHERON CONSTANTIN, BRÉGUET, JAEGER-LECOULTRE and others, you will analyse the technique and subtleties of their finest complications such as the Annual and Perpetual Calendar, the Tourbillon, the Chronograph, the Equation of Time, the Minute Repeater and more.

Programme

Six lessons of three hours, one day per month.

  • Lesson 1 :
    Concepts and definitions of time, instruments for counting time, types of watch.
  • Lesson 2 :
    Watchmaking theory, setting a watch, hallmarks and other markings, manual and automatic movements, dates.
  • Lesson 3 :
    Chronograph, Rattrapante, Fly-Back .
  • Lesson 4 :
    Annual and Perpetual Calendar, Resonance.
  • Lesson 5 :
    Tourbillon, Repeater, Retrograde function.
  • Lesson 6 :
    Practical exercise: Dismantling and reassembling a pocket calibre.
Each lesson will be followed by a Q&A during which you can ask and discuss any questions.
